Description
Y-STR testing determines whether two males share the same paternal lineage. The Y-STR paternal lineage DNA test is based on the fact that the Y chromosome is passed from father to son relatively unchanged through many generations. Only males can undergo Y-STR testing because females do not possess a Y chromosome.
Y-STR paternal lineage testing determines whether or not Y-STR markers are or are not consistent with the conclusion that the tested males may be related through a common male ancestor. Y-STR analysis cannot distinguish a specific relationship between males who belong to the same paternal line. However, it can be useful for excluding males from an alleged biological relationship.
Court admissible DNA testing requires strict sample collection procedures and stringent documentation requirements. Endeavor DNA Laboratories maintains a network of approved sample collection sites across the United States. Our expert case managers will work with you to schedule a sample collection in your area at a time convenient for you.
After we receive your samples, AABB-accredited court admissible test results will be completed in as little as 2 business days.
