Why Attend

The Mid-America Forensic DNA Conference is set to make its mark again in Columbia, MO on April 1-2, 2025. Featuring an experienced line-up of speakers representing organizations that are making a difference in the forensic arena. On March 31, 2025, before the conference starts, we will be hosting two information packed workshops: the Technical Leader Summit and the DNA Testimony Workshop.

Over the course of two conference days, you will hear from Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab, Kansas State Patrol Crime Lab, Johnson County Sheriff’s Crime Lab, Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center, Midwest Innocence Project, and several more. You will have the opportunity to participate in Q & A sessions covering topics that many of your peers experienced and are working through. This will be an informative time to hear and learn about forensic DNA processes, challenges, successes, and obtain your continuing education credits.

Workshops

DNA Testimony Workshop

The DNA Testimony Workshop will be lead by Courtney Workman from the Missouri SHP, costs $75.00, and go from 12pm to 4pm on March 31st (afternoon snack will be provided). Below is a brief description of the workshop from Courtney:

So, you got a subpoena…now what? This workshop will address concepts related to DNA testimony. The workshop will include exercises to give practice in testimony as well as provide practical examples to aid in the development and furthering of DNA testimony skills.

This workshop is geared towards newer forensic scientists but could also provide a good refresher to those with more experience.

Technical Leader Summit

The Technical Leader Summit will be lead by Sabrina Seehafer from the Iowa DPS, cost $100.00, and go from 10am to 4pm on March 31st (lunch will be provided). Below is a brief description of the workshop from Sabrina:

As you know, the CODIS conference has moved to an online event only. Unfortunately, this means we can no longer participate in the DNA Technical Leader Summit in person. Come and join us in Columbia, MO on March 31st for an in person event.
